Irregular menstruation includes all persistent abnormalities in the cycle of the menses, including shortened cycles, lengthened cycles and cycles of unpredictable length.
These irregularities are most often accompanied by changes in the length of menstrual periods and in the amount, color and texture of the menstrual discharge.
